Pieris Markou

Pieris Markou is the CEO of Deloitte in Cyprus and a member of the Deloitte Middle East Executive Board, having previously served as the Tax & Legal Services Leader. He started his career in London in 1986 and was admitted to Partnership at Chrysanthou and Christoforou (Andersen) in 2000. He is a member of the ICPAC Council since 2014, and elected President for the period 2021-2023, having served as the Vice President of the Institute’s Council during the period 2019-2021.  He was previously having assumed many professional roles within ICPAC, including Chairman of the Tax and VAT Committees. Pieris is also a board member of the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Pieris holds a B.A. (Hons) degree in Accounting, is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

Nicos Chimarides

Nicos Chimarides is a tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers Cyprus and also Consultant to the Ministry of Finance on matters related to conclusion of double tax treaties with other countries.

He is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics with Computer Science from the University of London.

In the past, he has served as member of the Education Committee (president), member of the Stock Exchange Committee and vice - president of the Taxation Committee of ICPAC.

Nicos has published many articles on tax matters in newspapers, the ICPAC magazine and PwC publications. In addition, he has given many speeches on taxation at conferences in Cyprus and abroad.

Andreas Andreou

Andreas Andreou is a Partner and Member of the Executive Committee of Deloitte Ltd.
He joined Deloitte in 1997 and he is in charge of the audit of a large number of public and private companies in various areas of operation with specialization in the insurance and financial services industry.
Andreas Andreou is in charge of the IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) technical team of Deloitte Cyprus and a facilitator in various technical trainings/seminars.

He is a member of the Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) since July 2015, having served as a member of the Accounting Standards Committee of ICPAC for the years 2010-2014 and Vice-chairman of the same committee for the year 2014-2015.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration (Accounting) from University of Cyprus and he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) since 2001.

Demetris S. Vakis

Demetris S. Vakis is a Board member of KPMG Limited. He holds a BSc Computer Science and Accounting (Joint Honours).



Before joining KPMG, Demetris worked for Touche Ross & Co (London) as a trainee from 1984 until 1987. Then, he joined Metaxas Loizides Syrimis & Co (now KPMG Limited) in 1987 and became a partner in 1991. He is a member of the Executive Committee of KPMG Limited in Cyprus.



Over the years he was responsible for several departments and services such as Advisory services (feasibility studies valuations, flotations, mergers, acquistions, reorganisations, due dilligence projects, etc) Internal Audit Services, Risk Management, Business Performance Improvement (Assessment of business performance systems e.g. ISO 9000, ISO 14000, etc) and Information Technology Services (requirements definition, selection, implemention, process improvement etc).



Today, Demetris is responsible for a major portfolio of Audit and other clients and is heading KPMG’s IT and Markets Departments.

Christos Vasiliou

Christos Vasiliou is a Board Member at KPMG Limited.

He qualified with KPMG Leeds in 1994 and returned to Cyprus.  He became a partner in 1999.

He currently heads the Advisory Services Unit of KPMG Cyprus.  Additionally, he heads both the Investment Funds and Academy Departments. Furthermore, he is a member of the Executive Committee of KPMG Cyprus. In the past, he has been in charge of other departments in KPMG such as the Financial Services Department.  He has also been the head of the Human Resources Department between the years 2003 and 2012.

Mr Vasiliou is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a member of CIFA and Vice President of the committee of AIF and UCITS, a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus – GCC Association and a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus – UK Association.

Spyros Spyrou

Mr. Spyros Spyrou is Financial Services Director at Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (HRDA) since June 2002. Previously he held the position of Accountant 1st Grade of the Organisation since August 1996. During the period July 1991 – July 1996, he worked in the company BP Cyprus Ltd as Accounting Officer and Supplies/Aviation/ Finance Controller.

He holds a degree in BA (Hons) Accounting and Management Science (University of Kent) and Master of Business Administration (University of Warwick). He is a Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of UK (ACCA) since July 1995 and Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) since February 1998.

Odysseas Christodoulou

Odysseas is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB). He is also holder of MBA with concentration in Finance as well as holder of the professional qualification Certified Management Accountant (CMA) of the Institute of Management Accountants of USA.

Odysseas worked with Coopers and Lybrand and in the banking sector with Marfin Popular Bank and Lombard Natwest Bank.

Since 1993 Odysseas works at Intercollege/University of Nicosia and he is a member of the Council of the University of Nicosia.  He was Executive Director of professional studies offering a wide range of qualifications for the financial services sector which later evolved to Globaltraining, an international professional training organization with centers in Cyprus, Greece and Romania and an innovative online course delivery center.

He has taught costing, management accounting and financial management.

Since 2012 he represents Cyprus at the International Assembly of ACCA.

He has served as a non-Executive Director in various Boards of public companies, and he is now a non-executive Director at Ancoria Bank.
