Marios Skandalis is a fellow member
of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), a licensed member
of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (US) and a Certified Financial
He is a Fellow member of the
International Compliance Association of the United Kingdom and a member of the Society of
Corporate Compliance and Ethics of the United States of America. He is also a member of the Association of
Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).
Today he is the Director of the
Group Compliance Division of the Bank of Cyprus Group. His professional career commenced in 1995
when he served as an Audit Supervisor and a Senior Management Consultant with
Ernst & Young in the South-Eastern European region. In year 2000 he moved to the Bank of Cyprus
Group and took the post of Chief Financial Officer of the General Insurance of
Cyprus for over a decade. He then took the
post of Manager for the Organization of the Bank’s Overseas Operations until
2013 when he was appointed as Legal Representative and head of the Bank of
Cyprus’ operations in Greece.
Mr Skandalis is the President of
the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus, the Vice-President and
founder member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (Cyprus) and the
ex-Executive Vice President and founder member of Transparency International (Cyprus). He is an active anti-fraud/corruption and compliance
professional and chairs or participates as key note speaker to related international

Magazine in the United Kingdom. He is
also the winner of the 2017 American Academy Nicosia Alumni Achievement Award
in recognition of his remarkable success and achievements in his chosen career
of compliance and anti-financial crime.
Stavros Pantzaris is the new Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young (EY) in Cyprus. He also leads the Firm’s Assurance services in Cyprus.
In addition to his interest in providing assurance services, throughout his career, Stavros Pantzaris has also developed an interest in business risk as well as transaction support services via leading a number of buy-side due diligence projects and offering services to companies applying for a listing on the Cyprus Stock Exchange (IPO). In the past he has also led the Quality and Risk Management and Independence teams in Cyprus providing advice on local independence and conflict issues and ensuring compliance with EY Global policies and procedures.
Stavros Pantzaris has a degree in Engineering with Industrial Management (B.Eng) and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). In the past he has been a member of the Stock Exchange Committee of ICPAC, having served as chairman during the period 2003 - 2005. Currently he sits on the Board of Directors of ICPAC.
Maria Pastellopoulou is the Founder and the Managing director at the audit firm Pastellopoulou Karlettides Ltd. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) since 2012 and a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Previously, she has served the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) from the positions of a member and Chairwoman of the Education Committee. She specializes in Audit Assurance.
Christos Vasiliou is a Board Member at KPMG Limited.
He qualified with KPMG Leeds in 1994 and returned to Cyprus. He became a partner in 1999.
He currently heads the Advisory Services Unit of KPMG Cyprus. Additionally, he heads both the Investment Funds and Academy Departments. Furthermore, he is a member of the Executive Committee of KPMG Cyprus. In the past, he has been in charge of other departments in KPMG such as the Financial Services Department. He has also been the head of the Human Resources Department between the years 2003 and 2012.
Mr Vasiliou is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), a member of CIFA and Vice President of the committee of AIF and UCITS, a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus – GCC Association and a member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus – UK Association.
Christos Vasiliou has a BA (Econ) in Accounting and Finance (Joint Honours degree) from University of Manchester.
He is married with three children.
Karlos is a founding partner of BDO Ltd. BDO employs more than 100 professional staff through its offices in Nicosia and Limassol. The firm offers assurance, tax, consulting and restructuring services.
Karlos has over 30 years experience in the profession and has been a partner in BDO for 20 years.
Karlos trained with Arthur Andersen in London and served a further two years as an audit manager before moving to Cyprus where he was initially employed by Coopers and Lybrand.
He has been a partner at BDO since 1996.
At BDO Karlos has headed several departments including the office maintained by the firm in Moscow during the years 2000-2005. Karlos headed the firms international audit division until 2007 and since that time has held the position of managing partner and head of tax services.
Karlos is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and of ICPAC. He has serves as a member of the Tax Committee and of the Small and medium firm advisory committee.
Karlos is married with three children.
Pieris holds a BA in Accounting, is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He started his career in 1986 in London where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and from 2000 became a partner heading the tax service line at Chrysanthou and Christoforou (Andersen) in Cyprus and from 2003 heading the tax and legal service line at Deloitte in Cyprus.
His experience includes many tax planning projects for major multinationals, private and local entities operating in Cyprus. He has many years of experience in both local and international tax planning and restructuring. He is one of the firm’s major negotiator on corporate and personal tax for resolution of client’s tax matters with the tax authorities.
He is an active member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus since 1992, having served as member, vice chairman and chairman of the Tax and VAT Committees of the Institute as well as a member of the Institute’s Council from July 2014. He participates in a number of meetings with the Minister of Finance, the House of Representatives and the Tax Commissioners for the formulation of the Government’s policies on taxation and is a member of an advisory committee to the Government on treaty negotiations. Pieris specializes in local and international taxation, is a speaker at many conferences and an author of many articles both in the local financial press as well as international tax journals.
Philippos Raptopoulos has been appointed by the Council of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus as a Member of the Board of the professional body, as of July 2014.
Philippos, 45, has been a member of ICPAC since February 1999, and has a long and active involvement in supporting Cyprus as a competitive tax jurisdiction both in his role as qualified accountant and a partner at EY (Ernst & Young Cyprus Ltd).
His professional career commenced in 1992 as an auditor with Ernst & Young. After several years holding senior roles in the shipping industry, Philippos then became a Principal Assessor in the Cyprus Inland Revenue Department (2000-2008), where he personally assisted the Commissioner of Inland Revenue and gained experience in all areas of Cyprus taxation.
In 2008, Philippos joined EY as an Executive Director, with a primary focus on Direct Tax (Business Tax Compliance and International Tax), and was appointed to Partner in 2010. Since the start of 2013 he has been the Head of Tax Services for the firm.
Philippos qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1995 and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance from Southbank University.
In addition, he is a member of other professional and social bodies both locally and abroad.
Demetris Taxitaris is a co-founder and Managing Director of Symmetria F.S. Ltd (‘Symmetria’), an independent Cyprus-based financial advisory, research and analysis firm. Demetris is a member of the Investment Committee of Symmetria setting investment strategy across and within a range of asset classes spanning equities, bonds, commodities, alternatives including real estate and cash. He is involved in the identification of investment opportunities and research and acts as an advisor to a number of investment, pension and insurance funds.
From 2001 until August 2013, he worked at Bank of Cyprus Group in Nicosia, being involved in the construction and management of the leading asset management and advisory unit in Cyprus with local and international clients, individuals and institutionals across all industries. During his term at Bank of Cyprus Group, he was responsible for a number of global and local multi-asset portfolios and a member of the Investment Committee of the Group. He resigned as Head, Asset Management. Prior to that, he worked at Deloitte in London where he qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant, becoming a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).
Demetris Taxitaris is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA). For a number of years, he is an instructor in courses for investment management and the European regulatory framework for investments, covering fields such as MiFID, UCITS, AIFMD, Market Abuse and Transparency. He served as a member of the Advisory Committee on Investment Funds of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA), a member of the Corporate Reporting Standing Committee’s Consultative Working Group of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and a Chairman of the Stock Exchange and Capital Market Committee of ICPAC.
Demetris Taxitaris holds a BSc. Mathematics with Statistics from Imperial College (first class honours) and a MSc. Mathematical Trading and Finance from City University in London (distinction).
Nicos Chimarides is a tax partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers Cyprus and also Consultant to the Ministry of Finance on matters related to conclusion of double tax treaties with other countries.
He is Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC) and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics with Computer Science from the University of London.
In the past, he has served as member of the Education Committee (president), member of the Stock Exchange Committee and vice - president of the Taxation Committee of ICPAC.
Nicos has published many articles on tax matters in newspapers, the ICPAC magazine and PwC publications. In addition, he has given many speeches on taxation at conferences in Cyprus and abroad.
Odysseas is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB). He is also holder of MBA with concentration in Finance as well as holder of the professional qualification Certified Management Accountant (CMA) of the Institute of Management Accountants of USA.
Odysseas worked with Coopers and Lybrand and in the banking sector with Marfin Popular Bank and Lombard Natwest Bank.
Since 1993 Odysseas works at Intercollege/University of Nicosia and he is a member of the Council of the University of Nicosia. He was Executive Director of professional studies offering a wide range of qualifications for the financial services sector which later evolved to Globaltraining, an international professional training organization with centers in Cyprus, Greece and Romania and an innovative online course delivery center.
He has taught costing, management accounting and financial management.
Since 2012 he represents Cyprus at the International Assembly of ACCA.
He has served as a non-Executive Director in various Boards of public companies, and he is now a non-executive Director at Ancoria Bank.
